About Karen

Selling your home is a big decision.

You deserve clear options, honest answers, and zero pressure.

This isn't just a transaction to me.  It's personal.

I’m Karen Parnes.  As a licensed Maryland Realtor, broker, and investor, I run a small brokerage and an investment company.  I’ve helped hundreds of families navigate complex real estate decisions.  But none of that is where this story starts.  It starts with a mistake.

In 2003, my family bought the first…and only…house we saw.  We were told it was all we could afford.  That we had to move fast.   We trusted the professional in front of us.

It wasn’t the right house.  That decision created financial strain, stress, and years of unnecessary pressure.  What stayed with me most wasn’t just the house — it was the feeling of not fully understanding what we were getting into.

That experience, in hindsight, was my first step into my real estate career.

Eventually, I made a decision:

No one I work with will ever be rushed, cornered, or talked into something they don’t fully understand.

Why I Do This Work Differently

My daughters are the reason I care so deeply about integrity.  Not the word.  The practice.

Because here’s what I believe:

  • A house is never “just a transaction.”
  •  It’s someone’s security.
  •  Someone’s history.
  •  Sometimes someone’s last connection to a parent.

And when people feel overwhelmed, pressured, or unsure — that’s when integrity matters most.

When Real Estate Feels Overwhelming

Many of the people I help are not “typical” sellers. They are:

Adult children managing an inherited home after a loss

Homeowners facing repairs they can't take on

Families navigating financial or significant life changes

People who simply feel overwhelmed by decisions, timelines and paperworlk

My Approach: Clarity Over Pressure

Because of what my own family experienced, I built my business around three commitments:

1. Education First -  You deserve to understand your options. I explain the process - the steps, the costs, the trade-offs, and what to realistically expect.

2. Real Options, Clearly Presented -  Listing. Selling as-is. Investor purchase. Creative solutions.
We look at the paths side-by-side so you can see what fits your life — not just the market.

3. Decisions Without Pressure -  I will tell you the truth — even if that truth means we don’t do a deal right now.
You should feel calm and confident when you make a decision, not rushed into one.

Not every situation should be solved the same way.

I’ve spent years learning how to help families, like my own, get out of difficult situations through

creative, ethical real estate solutions.  I care deeply that you understand what’s happening and why, and that you feel respected every step of the way.

Sometimes the best solution is a quick, simple sale.  Sometimes it’s listing strategically.  Sometimes it’s exploring creative options.  And sometimes… it’s deciding not to sell at all.

My role isn’t to push you toward a transaction.  My role is to slow things down, listen carefully, and help you see your full range of options so you can move forward with clarity instead of pressure.

Whatever your situation, my job is to slow things down, listen, and help you see the full picture—so you’re not rushed into something you don’t understand or later regret.

Why This Work Matters So Much to Me

I still think about that first house—the stress, the arguments, the sleepless nights, and the feeling that we didn’t really have a choice.

That memory is why I:

  • Take extra time to understand your story
  • Refuse to gloss over details
  • Prioritize long-term trust over short-term transactions

I am especially honored to work with families who are grieving, exhausted, or simply unsure what to do next.  If you’re facing a property that feels like “too much,” you are exactly who I’m here for. You don’t need to have everything figured out.

You just need a clear conversation with someone who will put your interests first.

When you’re ready, I’ll walk you through it — step by step — with honesty, patience, and real care.
